Update and Provisioning

An update means the installation of a new firmware version to integrate new features and to solve possible problems. The device sets up a connection with an update server, over which it receives the latest firmware (the settings on the device remain unchanged). Except for the charges for the server connection, the update is free of charge.

There are several ways to perform an update:

If a manual update is performed, a firmware file (*.rom) is loaded into the telephone from the Configuration Manager or a data storage device, enabling the new firmware to be saved to the telephone. After the update, the telephone reboots automatically.

Automatic update from update server

In the case of an automatic update from the update server, a regular (e.g. weekly) automatic update can be configured. You can set the weekday and time.

Provisioning is the automated configuration of the telephone from a provisioning server. The device sets up a connection with a provisioning server, over which it receives the necessary configuration data. Following that the firmware is updated.

There are several ways to perform a provisioning:

Automatic provisioning

In the case of automatic provisioning from the provisioning server, regular (e.g. weekly) automatic provisioning can be configured. You can set the weekday and time.

Provisioning from PBX search

Provisioning via a set provisioning server

Proceed as follows for configuration:

•

Setting the update options (manual update, schedule, update settings, distributing firmware, etc.).

Using the Configuration Manager (page Settings > System > Update & provisioning > Update)

Using the telephone (page

Setting the provisioning options (automatic provisioning, DHCP data, Redirect Server, Provisioning from PBX search, Remote configuration via SIP messages).
